In the year 2019, we started the first of its kind clinical and metabolic genetics facility-The Sujanan Clinic at Pune with an aim to help in achieving Good Birth, Good Life.

The program is headed by Dr Chaitanya Datar, Clinical and Metabolic Geneticist and is ably supported by a team of Clinical Geneticist, Metabolic Dietitian and BGCI certified Genetic Counselors backed by a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility.

It is India’s only private company run program to have such a comprehensive team helping clinicians and patients to get complete care from diagnosis to management.

Genetic Consultation & Counseling is a service started under the Sujanan program by Lilac Insights where the country’s finest Clinical Geneticists and Genetic Counselors help individuals, with information and support regarding the contribution of their genetic makeup to specific health conditions.

Individuals &/ or families are guided by a collective wisdom of internationally trained & certified geneticists and genetic counselors into making informed decisions in a non-directive manner. The aim is to provide a counseling experience that is scientifically sound yet non-intimidating. The service endeavours to address the pitfalls of a “one-size fits all” approach taking into consideration patient autonomy and healthcare professionalism.

The genetic consultation & counseling provided are as per international guidelines for genetic counseling set by NSGC (U.S.A), AGNC (NHS - U.K) & HGSA (Australasia) on a scientific evidence-based approach. The team of experts are focused on giving vital and unbiased information, which aids in informed decision making by the patients and their doctors.

Genetic Consultation & Counseling can be helpful in the following cases
Premarital
  • Family history of a suspected genetic disorder

The process of counseling involves pedigree analysis, detailed discussion on family history, past genetic test reports and interpretations, evaluation of inheritance patterns and recurrence risks. Counseling provides psychosocial support and encourages informed decision-making for your family.

Lilac Insights, also provide an online genetic consultation and counseling with patient through a video conference along with clinical geneticists and genetic counselors.

Genetic counseling or consultation helps couples and families to understand genetic or medical conditions and their causes, as well as their probability of conceiving a child with a medical concern. Genetic counseling or consultation helps in various ways like

Genetic consultation and counseling is mostly referred for individuals/ patients /couples/families in cases like:

  1. Basic genetic consultation and counseling : Chromosomal abnormalities, biochemical screening results, ultrasonography findings.
  2. Advanced genetic consultation and counseling : Pediatric cases, obstetric indications cases, history of inherited disorders.
  3. Follow-up genetic consultation and counseling : Post-test counseling sessions with patients. All the 3 types of counseling & consultation can be availed physically or electronically. Physical genetic consultation and counseling is available at our select centres- Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru. You can also avail genetic consultation & counseling from the comfort of your home through any device by booking an e-Genetic counseling & Consultation appointment.

Lilac Insights, booking an appointment for e-Genetic Counseling / Consultation is very easy.

The booking process of genetic counseling / consultation is mentioned below-

  1. Request for an appointment over phone (dial) 9136629430 or email us at geneticcounselling_west@sujanan.com
  2. Get pre-approval for the appointment with payment details
  3. Pay through the online payment gateway
  4. Get confirmation for the appointment (within 12-28 hrs.)
  5. Join e-Genetic Counseling as per the scheduled appointment
  6. You as well as the referring Physician (if any or in prenatal cases), receive the Genetic Counseling summary/ report via email & link to download the report.

In order to help as many individuals, couples and families as possible we ask you to adhere to these cancellation policies. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

  • If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment time, please provide us as much notice as possible. Our Genetic counselors do not double book appointments, so the appointment you have made is exclusively for you. If you don’t attend the session you have booked without notifying us at least 24 hours in advance, the full fee will be charged and there will be no refund.
  • We need at least 24 hours notice to attempt to fill the appointment time should you cancel or reschedule. So, we request you to consider this when changing or cancelling a scheduled appointment.
